Thomas List

Thomas List was born in Linz, Austria. He received his first lessons in recorder, piano and organ at the Schlägl Music School. Afterwards he studied recorder with Hans Maria Kneihs at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and with Pedro Memeldorff at the Escola superior de Música in Barcelona. In 2000 he won first prize in the category “solo recorder” at the Austrian competition Gradus ad parnassum. In 2002 Thomas List received an Honors Degree in soloist performance on recorder and in teaching, and was awarded a prize of appreciation by the Austrian Ministry of Arts and Sciences. In 2002 he received an “Honorable Mention” at the international competition „Concours Musica Antiqua“ in Brugge. In 2004 he won first prize with Ensemble Mikado at the International Young Artists´ Presentation (IYAP) in Antwerp. Thomas is performing in different ensembles all over Europe (e.g. Mezzaluna, B-Five, Phoenix Baroque Austria, Ictus, PLENUM). In his latest project „DOS À DOS“ he is focusing on contemporary music for recorder and clarinet. Since 2009, he has been teaching at the „City of Vienna University“ in Austria.
